“I am fond of simple yet innovative forms, especially those that are irregular and asymmetrical. But what really matters to me is designing jewellery that is highly wearable and that ‘touches’ those who wear it.”

Yannis Mandilakis
With a degree from the Physics Department of Aristotle University, Yannis pursued his passion for handmade jewelry and excelled in gem-cuttting.
“I am inspired by the kaleidoscopic beauty of the stones, and quite often I let the stone speak for itself. Our philosophy is to showcase the gemstones as they come from the earth, with the fewest possible interventions.”

the studio

The story of MARGONI jewellery began in 1989 when the design duo, Mary Margoni and Yannis Mandilakis, started working together in their studio in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Their one-of-a-kind pieces are crafted entirely in their workshop, with Mary focusing on design and Yannis specializing in gem cutting and lapidary techniques.
Today, the two artists continue to create unique,
handmade jewellery, with precious and semi-precious stones as the central feature—sometimes faceted, other times left in their natural form.
MARGONI jewellery combines these stones harmoniously with gold and silver, resulting in distinctive,one-of-a-kind pieces characterized by abstract lines, simplicity, and a sense of freedom in form.
MARGONI jewellery has traveled internationally and can be found in stores across Europe and the US. Their workis also featured in the Museum of Arts and Design in New York.
